Hoping to stay sharp during its mid-season break, Bay Cities FC will host the Guatemala U-20 Men's National Team Wednesday, August 3rd at 7:30 pm. The game will be held at Bay Cities FC’s home field, Sequoia Stadium in Redwood City, CA.

“It is a great opportunity for our players to be playing versus a World Cup bound team,” said President Anders Perez. “It is also an opportunity for the Guatemalan community and Central American community to go see their national heroes, right here in Redwood City.”

The Guatemala National Under-20 football team roster is composed of players who compete worldwide both as amateurs and professionals.  It includes several American-based players including Arian Recinos, a 17-year-old defender who plays for the New York Red Bulls, Allan Juárez, an 18-year-old with the San Jose Earthquakes 2, and Arquimides Ordonez an 18-year-old forward who plays for FC Cincinnati.  Ordonez, who was born in Ohio, has played in seven games with the FC Cincinnati first team.

Guatemala is one of four CONCACAF teams heading to the U-20 2023 World Cup in Indonesia along with the United States, the Dominican Republic and Honduras. It should provide a solid challenge to Bay Cities FC, who is coming off an upset loss to the Wenatchee All-Stars FC in the NISA Independent Cup Pacific Region Final last Saturday.

“We will treat it as an important game to win,” added Perez. :We have a responsibility to compete and put on a performance our fans will be proud of.”

Tickets for the game are $15 for youth and $25 for adults, and can be purchased here.
