Defender Christian Dean, who came out of retirement to join Bay Cities FC, has transferred to USL League One side Forward Madison FC.  Dean will join Forward Madison immediately.

“We are happy with the work that Christian Dean put in during his time with us,” stated President & Head Coach Anders Perez. “I wish him all the best in his next endeavor. Overall, we have to applaud our leadership group too in completing a second transfer in our very early history.”

Dean was born in Texas but grew up in East Palo Alto, California.  He played his club soccer for the Palo Alto Football Club, Santa Clara Sporting FC and the De Anza Force. After making 55 collegiate appearances for the University of California, Berkeley Golden Bears, Dean signed a Generation Adidas contract and was picked third in the 2014 MLS Superdraft by the Vancouver Whitecaps FC.

After three seasons split between the Whitecaps and Whitecaps 2, Dean was traded to the Chicago Fire in 2017 and announced his retirement the following year.  Dean did not play for the next two years, but came out of retirement to join USL Championship side Charlotte Independence for the 2021 season.  After a season in Charlotte, Dean retired again, but almost immediately joined Bay Cities FC. He made his debut for the club against Cal United Strikers in April, coming in at halftime for Danny Turgeon. In all, Dean made seven appearances for Bay Cities FC including six starts and two 90 minute performances during the club's US Open Cup run vs San Jose Earthquakes and Monterey Bay FC.
